MSW Applied Projects and Thesis

Every year, CSULB MSW students work together to assess and engage communities during the Applied Projects I & II. This process culminates in collaborative interventions to improve the lives of vulnerable populations or help community organizations, programs or agencies function more effectively.

Some CSULB MSW students elect to do individual research projects and complete a Masters Thesis.

All social work students build on research, policy, and practice to better understand the community and to develop a comprehensive needs assessment.

Working with their community partners, the Applied Projects teams create interventions and support the work partner organizations are doing. Thesis students help to advance knowledge in the field through qualitative and quantitative projects, policy analysis, curriculum development and more.

These experiences also showcase the broad range of skills social workers have, often allowing communities to see the profession in new and different ways.

The annual Applied Projects and Thesis posters showcase the creative efforts our most recent graduates developed in the greater Los Angeles and Orange County areas. Our distance education students highlight work they completed in and around Ventura and Sonoma counties.
